Altair Louvers can be fitted into a variety of aluminum and wood window frame systems available through our network of Window Dealers.
Strip Hardware
Strip hardware can be installed into most window frames, allowing identical frames to be used throughout a project across varying windows and doors.
EasyscreenTM System
The Powerlouver System is available in this aluminum frame which is suitable for all building types with external screening*. The system is supplied fully assembled.

The ios Window System includes an integrated insect and security screen housing that allows easy fitting of screens* to the frame.

MakaniTM System
Developed to suit narrow frame applications and installation into concrete block construction when screening is not required.

Blade Options
With Altair Louver Windows you can choose blades that best suit the windows function. i.e. maximizing views, letting in/reducing sunlight, reducing glare, gaining privacy, better acoustics, increased thermal comfort or creating your own design style.
Clear Glass
Full views and maximum natural sunlight.
Clear Low E Glass
Improves the insulating properties of the glass in cold or mixed climates.
Satina Glass
Allows soft diffused light into the room and retains privacy.
Grey Tinted Glass
Works best to reduce solar heat gain while optimizing views.
Bronze Tinted Glass
Works best to reduce solar heat gain, ideal for hot climates.
Clear Anodized Aluminum
Provides privacy with ventilation, ideal for harsh climates.

Fixed Louvers are typically used where permanent ventilation, light, privacy or a degree of weatherproofing is required. E.g. Vented roofs, laundries, bathrooms, public amenities, housing for air conditioning units, screened walkways.

Color Options
Breezway offers an extensive range of colors and finishes, many with optional colour matched clips and handles. Selecting the right anodizing or powder for the atmospheric conditions of your building, along with correct maintenance, will be critical to the ongoing appearance of the finish.

These colors are indicative only and may not exactly reflect their true color due to differences in screen calibration. Some color variation between aluminum and plastic can occur. Industry accepted color variation can also occur during the aluminum anodizing process.
Selecting the Right Aluminum Finish
The aluminum components of Altair Louver windows are available in two different surface finishes: anodized and standard powder coating.
Powder coatings are polyester coatings from leading powder suppliers applied to a thickness of 50µm and anodized finishes are to a thickness of 25µm. Over time, weathering of powder coated surfaces should be expected, resulting in a gradual change in appearance. This will be evident in loss of gloss, chalking, color change and erosion of the powder coatings. Selecting the right finish for the atmospheric conditions of the site and correct maintenance will be critical to the ongoing appearance of the finish.
Note: Industry accepted color variation can occur during the aluminum anodizing process.

Security Options
There are many window framing systems today that will allow a security or insect screen to be placed to the inside or outside of your Altair Louvers.
- Screens can improve the insulation and shading properties of the window.
- Breezway offers the ios Window System or Powerlouvre in the Easyscreen Window System with integrated housing for screens.
- Altair Strip Hardware can be installed into other window manufacturer’s frames with screening capabilities.
- Breezway manufactures insect screens at our factory in Oahu, or high quality hurricane proof security screens are available from Prowler Proof.

Size Options
Altair Louver Windows are custom manufactured to order, meaning there is a wide flexibility in sizes available. Please speak to your local window manufacturer for advice on your specific circumstances.
Heights
Standard heights are based off the chosen blade height of 4″ or 6″.
Off Standard heights are available for single glazed Altair Louvrers but will add cost to your window and result in a fixed louvre blade to act as a filler piece. The type of window frame chosen will affect the standard heights. See more in the TAB section below.
Widths
There are no standard louver blade or louver bay widths for single glazed Altair Louvers. However a rule of thumb is the higher the wind and water performance required, the shorter the blade should be. In hurricane regions the bay widths may be a maximum of 23-5/8″ or in other geographic areas with lower wind loads they may extend up to 35-7/16″. The window frame can then be designed with multiple bays to achieve the desired frame width. With Breezway’s framing systems this can be up to 157-15/32″ wide. Your window manufacturer will advise you based on your specific circumstances.

While Altair Louver Windows can be manufactured in any size specified, the wind and water rating for the building project will affect the maximum allowable window height and bay width. Please refer to the Product Performance Warranty in the Breezway Design Manual for technical information.
Please Note:
Standard Heights are measured from the lowest visible metal to the uppermost visible metal of the frame and excludes fins.
Off Standard Heights that are more than 13/64″ greater than or less than a Standard Height will have a top fixed blade to achieve the specified height. Off Standard heights that are within 13/64″ of a Standard Height will not have a fixed top blade.
Notes for Powerlouver System Standard Heights:
Off-Standard Frame Heights between 4/16″ and 1-10/16″ greater than a Standard Height are unavailable for 6″ Powerlouver in the Easyscreen Frame.
Off-Standard Frame Heights between 1/16″ and 3/16″ below a Standard Height are unavailable for 4″ Powerlouver in the Easyscreen Frame.
Off-Standard Frame Heights between 4/16″ and 1-12/16″ greater than a Standard Height are unavailable for 4″ Powerlouver in the Easyscreen Frame.

There are no standard bay widths for single glazed Altair Louvre Windows. However, the bay width may be affected by Building code rules. Please refer to the Product Performance Warranty in the Breezway Design Manual for technical information.
Maximum Surround Frame Window Width = 157-15/32″ (frame widths over these dimensions will need to be coupled on site or at a window dealer’s factory)
Up to 6 Louvre Bays can be included in a single Surround Frame.
Louvre /fixed lite combination bays are available.
